Individual Family Support Program

The Individual Family Support Program offers participants one-on-one support with a designated Family and Community Support Worker at any time.

This program is based on parents helping parents, providing up-to-date information about pregnancy, parenting, baby care, and child wellbeing. Individual Family Support workers offer early identification, intervention, breastfeeding supports, nutrition education, referrals and connections to community resources. They can help with form completion, advocacy, accompaniment, problem-solving and counselling.

By building on parents’ strengths, the Individual Family Support worker establishes goals alongside parents to improve relationships between parent and child through activities and education. Information and education are also provided to support parents in making healthy, informed choices for their family. Child development is another important focus for Individual Family Support, providing and facilitating activities that encourage exploration, autonomy, cognitive development, and motor control skills.
